“BERLIN —A dog playing fetch in Germany has found and delivered to its owner a U.S. hand grenade from World War II.

Police in the western town of Erkrath said Monday they were called by the dog’s 40-year-old owner who stopped walking her pooch when she recognized the “rusty” object it was carrying was a weapon.

Police summoned a munitions expert Sunday to identify and defuse the grenade.

Grenades and bombs left over from World War II are still often found in Germany.

Sometimes whole streets in neighborhoods are evacuated so that such devices can be safely defused.”

Here is what they left out of the story:

The German Shepard named Rommel,  has been quite upset in recent days with his owner,  Mr Nuigiburger, for not taking him on regular walks anymore. Rommel also showed his disgust in the new dog food his owner was giving him everyday.

A K-9 expert who is currently investigating the incident, believes it has a lot to do with the new neighbors who moved in a couple of weeks ago, next to Rommel’s house. The neighbor’s dogs are fed a rich diet of beef everyday, cooked fresh from scratch by their loving owners. Their dogs also gets taken daily on long walks in the park, as well as weekly trips to the country for pick-nicks and sheep herding. The dog expert strongly believes that Rommel found out about this, and has been planning for quite a while to get rid of his owner, with the hope of getting adopted by the neighbors if anything was to happen to his owner.

The dog expert believes Rommel knew exactly what he was doing. All dog owners are warned not to neglect their dogs in any way.
